Introduction
We are seeking a Project Engineer (Mechanical/Electrical) to manage mining projects involving crushing and milling equipment, from feasability and design throughout to installation, commissioning, and project handover. The successful candidate will work closely with clients, suppliers, and project teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions while ensuring projects are completed safely, and on time. This role requires a hands-on approach and a willingness to travel extensively to project sites.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage mining projects from feasibility through to commissioning and project handover.
- Prepare project plans, schedules, and budgets, and monitor project progress.
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and site activities.
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of crushing and milling equipment.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors, and internal project teams.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Identify and resolve technical and project-related issues.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation and reports.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Project Engineer within the mining industry.
- Proven experience with crushing and milling equipment.
- Experience managing projects from greenfield feasibility through to site establishment, plant erection, and commissioning.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Strong project planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently and spend extended periods on project sites.
- Ability to obtain mine medical clearance for site access.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Professional registration (Pr. Eng.) would be advantageous.
- Experience with additional engineering or project management software.
- Experience working on EPC/EPCM or similar mining projects.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
