Terms of Service

Welcome to the Career Hub by Jobbyist South Africa, a subsidiary of Gravitas Industries (Pty) Ltd (Registration No. 2024/596436/07).
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the Career Hub located at:
The platform is powered by JBoard.io and operated by Jobbyist South Africa.
By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms.
1. Definitions
“Platform” means the Jobbyist Job Board.
“Jobbyist”, “we”, “our”, or “us” means Jobbyist South Africa, a subsidiary of Gravitas Industries (Pty) Ltd.
“User” means any individual or organisation using the Platform.
“Employer” means any business, recruiter, agency or organisation posting vacancies.
“Candidate” means any person applying for employment opportunities.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old or have legal capacity under South African law to use the Platform.
By creating an account you warrant that:
- all information supplied is accurate
- you will keep your information updated
- you will not impersonate another person
- you will comply with applicable laws
3. Our Services
The Platform enables:
- Employers to advertise vacancies
- Candidates to search and apply for employment
- Employers to review applications
- Communication between employers and applicants
Jobbyist does not employ candidates or recruit on behalf of employers unless specifically stated.
4. Employer Responsibilities
Employers agree that they will:
- post genuine employment opportunities
- provide truthful job descriptions
- comply with South African labour legislation
- avoid discriminatory hiring practices
- maintain confidentiality of applicant information
- only use applicant information for legitimate recruitment purposes
Employers may not:
- post misleading advertisements
- advertise pyramid schemes
- advertise illegal work
- collect applicant information for unrelated marketing
- request unlawful payments from applicants
5. Candidate Responsibilities
Candidates agree to:
- provide truthful information
- submit accurate CVs
- avoid fraudulent qualifications
- maintain respectful communication
- keep login credentials secure
Candidates understand that submitting an application does not guarantee employment.
6. Prohibited Conduct
Users may not:
- upload malicious software
- scrape or copy Platform data
- interfere with Platform security
- create fake accounts
- impersonate another individual
- infringe intellectual property
- spam users
- post offensive, unlawful or defamatory content
Violation may result in immediate suspension or termination.
7. User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining your password.
You are responsible for all activity occurring under your account.
Notify us immediately if you believe your account has been compromised.
8. Job Listings
Jobbyist does not guarantee:
- the accuracy of job advertisements
- that vacancies remain open
- successful hiring
- the legitimacy of every employer despite reasonable moderation efforts
Users should conduct their own due diligence before accepting employment offers.
9. Third-Party Technology
This Platform is powered by JBoard.io.
Certain Platform functions may be provided through third-party infrastructure and integrations.
Your use of these features may also be subject to the terms and privacy policies of those third parties.
10. Intellectual Property
All branding, logos, graphics, software, content and trademarks remain the property of Jobbyist or its licensors.
Users receive a limited, non-exclusive licence to use the Platform.
No ownership rights are transferred.
11. Fees
Some employer services may require payment.
Where applicable:
- pricing will be displayed before purchase
- payments are generally non-refundable unless required by law
- subscription services may renew automatically if stated
12. Platform Availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
Maintenance, upgrades or technical issues may temporarily affect availability.
13. Disclaimer
The Platform is provided “as is” and “as available.”
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Jobbyist makes no warranties regarding:
- employment outcomes
- employer conduct
- candidate conduct
- Platform availability
- uninterrupted operation
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted under South African law, Jobbyist shall not be liable for:
- indirect damages
- consequential losses
- lost profits
- employment decisions
- recruitment outcomes
- third-party actions
- data loss caused by external events
Our maximum liability shall not exceed the fees paid by the affected user during the preceding twelve months.
15. Indemnity
Users agree to indemnify and hold harmless Jobbyist, Gravitas Industries (Pty) Ltd, directors, employees and affiliates against claims arising from:
- misuse of the Platform
- breach of these Terms
- unlawful conduct
- infringement of third-party rights
16. Account Suspension
We reserve the right to:
- suspend accounts
- remove job listings
- terminate accounts
- report unlawful conduct
where we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached.
17. Privacy
Use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
18. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of South African courts.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may amend these Terms periodically.
Continued use of the Platform after publication of updated Terms constitutes acceptance of those changes.
