What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with the following experience, qualifications and /or skillsets:
Relevant degree for registration e.g. Masters for Psychologist/ Honours for Social Worker.
Registered Counsellor, Psychologist, Social Worker.
School Counsellor experience 5 years.
Advantageous
Multidisciplinary teams experience.
The responsibilities are:
Development of Individual Learning programmes
Conduct assessments for school readiness, general learners with difficulties, concessions/accommodations, emotional and behavioural difficulties etc.
Make referrals to appropriate therapists or to the multidisciplinary disciplinary team.
Compilation of individual development and intervention programmes for learners.
Facilitate the school-based support team
Review learners quarterly to review learners support as per the provision of services by the team.
Determine all roles of team to ensure that team functions cohesively in the best interest of the learners.
Compilation and collation of progress reports.
Identification of additional resources to support learners
Identify potential external resources to support learners if relevant.
Collaborate with service providers to gain guidance on how to deal with issues that are outside of scope.
Manage agreements and levels of service of external service providers.
Maintain list and databased of service providers and remedial schools.
Collaboration and networking to determine learner's progress
Collaborators with educators in the classroom setting to establish any issues with the learners.
Advise parents of recommendations and advise that other therapists may be used.
Manage network meeting with all parties to discuss the way forward with the learner including next steps.
Training and education of providers (Internal)
Provide support and training sessions for educators and therapists on the management of special requirements such as accommodations.
Conduct information sessions on various topics on how to identify types of behaviour or indicators of issues with learners.
Arrange for team to address educators on how to identify issues with learners.
Provide training on how to support learners with learning challenges.
