National Chicks, a leading international supplier of poultry within the Astral Group, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Site Foreman.
Job Description
Role Responsibilities:
• The planning, organising, leading and control of all aspects and duties assigned to you in order to achieve production standards.
• Site visits.
• Oversee the Site Foreman.
• Standing in for the Farm Manager when required
• Managing all labour related issues to ensure that all staff members are contributing to the objectives of the company.
• The maintaining of product quality, hygiene and biosecurity standards.
• Managing all resources to the maximum benefit of the company.
• Implementing and managing continuous improvement via the 20 Keys principles.
• Managing Health, safety and risk on your site.
The role will report to the Farm Manager.
The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:
• Minimum of a grade 12 education but a tertiary education in agriculture would be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years breeder experience.
• Passionate, self-motivated and performance driven.
• Must have good administrative skills and ability to control documents.
• Must be pro-active and be able to work accurately and independently.
• Working hours are irregular and include weekend duties.
• Establish and maintain biosecurity protocols to safeguard flock health and maintain compliance with industry regulations.
• Maintaining the company’s assets and constantly striving to improve results.
• Work efficiently in a team environment with tact and patience.
• Maintaining Risk control, Occupational Health, Environmental control and Animal welfare requirements and standards as per relevant legislation and Astral Standard Operating practices.
• Maintaining production standards in terms of quality and volumes.
• Ensuring the highest product quality/ hygiene standards are always maintained.
• Adhering to Health and Safety requirements and laws.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPI’s) and implement corrective actions as needed to achieve operational targets.
• Implementation and maintenance of the 20 keys Operational Improvement programmes.
• Understanding of biosecurity measures and animal welfare.
• Strong leadership and team-building skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid Driving license
• Able to work under pressure
• A pro-active approach to problem solving and operational challenges.
• Adaptable to changing environments.
• Must have a passion for people and animals.
• Computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook).
