The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing, analysing and improving truck trailers and their components. This role involves conducting structural analyses, creating technical reports and ensuring the engineering designs meet industry standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct Structure Analyses (FEA): Analyse and evaluate the structural integrity of components using FEA software to ensure they meet performance and safety standards.
- Design and Prepare Drawing Sets: Develop detailed engineering drawings and specifications for new trailer designs or modifications.
- Improve Designs for Non-Failure: Continuously enhance designs to prevent structural failures and ensure durability throughout the lifespan of the trailers.
- Conduct Major Assignments in Mechanical Engineering: Lead significant projects within the mechanical engineering discipline, focusing on trailer design and structural performance.
- Prepare Data for Complex Projects and Make Recommendations: Gather and analyze data, providing expert recommendations for alternative solutions to engineering problems.
- Assist Design Engineers: Provide support and expertise to the design engineering team, contributing to the development of innovative trailer designs.
- Conduct Vehicle and Component Tests and Validations: Plan and oversee testing processes for trailers and components, ensuring that they meet engineering standards and functional requirements.
- Experimental Testing, Simulation, and Validation: Perform tests on critical features, using experimental data and simulations to validate structural performance and improve design accuracy.
- Enhance the CAE Process: Work to refine and advance the Computer-Aided Engineering process, with a special emphasis on structural analysis tools and methods.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- 1+ years experience in Mechanical Design
- Matric
- Completed National Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BTech Highly beneficial)
- Knowledge of engineering principles, materials science and mechanical systems.
- Expertise in FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and simulation tools for structural validation.
- Understanding of engineering standards and regulatory requirements for trailer design and manufacturing.
- Familiarity with the latest advancements in Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools and technologies.
- Computer Literacy in MS Office (essential)
