Introduction
Chester Wholesale Meat KZN (Pty) Ltd is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and quality-driven professional to join its team as a Quality Control Officer, based at our Head Office in Watford, Congella, Durban. Reporting to the SHEQ Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in upholding our commitment to product excellence, food safety, and operational standards.

The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing product quality and stock movements, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards, and contributing to the delivery of exceptional products to our customers. Success in this role requires a proactive approach, strong attention to detail, and the ability to consistently perform with a high level of accuracy, efficiency, and professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Production quality control checks for quality, safety, and legality.
- Assuming responsibility for the receipt and movement of merchandise.
- Ensuring inventory meets the required predefined standards.
- Involvement in training and assessments of staff to align with company standard operating procedures.
- Performing site inspections.
- Maintenance of hygiene standards and practices according to company standards.
- Conducting risk analysis of processes.
- Compilation of Certificate of Analysis.
- Performing internal audits.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Matric certificate or equivalent NQF level.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications: Food Technology, Biotechnology, Food Science and Nutrition.
- 1 - 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Computer literate.
- Knowledge of food regulation.
- HACCP and Internal Audit knowledge.
- Service Delivery Focused.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good attention to detail.
- Conscientious with a good work ethic.
- Self-driven with a long-term view for growth.
- Must be willing to work shifts.
