About The Role
FAW Trucks Eastern Cape are seeking a skilled and dedicated Diesel Mechanic to join our team.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing FAW trucks and light-duty vehicles to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime for our customers.

Duties & Responsibilities
The primary duty is to ensure that all FAW vehicle models are kept in a good operational condition for customers through proper effective maintenance and repairs, specifically:
- Carry out scheduled maintenance on trucks and LDVs as per the prescribed FAW service schedules per model range and ensuring these services are completed within the specified timeframes.
- Attending to breakdowns of trucks and LDVs, diagnosing and fault finding of complaints, and obtaining the necessary authorisations to carry out the repairs. These repairs must be booked correctly on job cards, and carried out within the specified timeframes.
- Whilst carrying out repairs and maintenance work on trucks and LDV’s, ensure that all customer complaints are addressed and diagnosed accordingly and repaired as per authorisation.
- Ensure that all vehicles leaving the workshop are washed and test driven to ensure they are 100% operationally correct.
- Ensure work area and tools are kept clean and tidy at all times.
- Ensure that special tools and equipment are looked after, cleaned, and correctly stored once use has been completed.
- Ensure that all duties are carried out in accordance with safe work procedures, and that the correct PPE is worn at all times.
- Communicate delays and major faults to workshop manager timeously.
- Supervision and management of assistant.
- Strict adherence to company policies, procedures and SHEQ policies, including disciplinary code.
- Six day work week, Monday – Friday 07:00 to 17:00 and Saturday 07:00 to 13:00.
- Position works a fixed standby shift.
- Perform other job functions related to the trade as may be required by management from time to time.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Qualified Diesel Mechanic with a recognised Red Seal Trade Test certification.
- Minimum of 5 years' post-trade experience working on heavy commercial vehicles (HCVs), specifically Code 14 trucks, within a dealership environment.
- Valid Code 14 driver's licence.
- At least 2 years' experience in a breakdown and/or standby role.
- Experience working on FAW trucks will be highly advantageous.
- Experience in auto electrical diagnostics and repairs will be advantageous.
- Knowledge and experience in hydraulic systems will be advantageous.
- Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
- Strong administrative skills, with the ability to effectively manage job cards and related documentation.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining a high standard of workmanship and attention to detail.
- Willingness to work after hours and on weekends when operational requirements demand.

Package & Remuneration
A competitive salary of R30 000 - R45 000 per month, depending on experience, qualifications, and technical expertise.
The overall remuneration package will be discussed with the successful candidate.
