Job Description
Qualification, Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in taxation or a related field.
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in VAT compliance.
Basic knowledge of VAT legislation and SARS requirements.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and research skills.
This role will be performing VAT responsibilities and analyzing financial data. It requires an understanding of the relevant fundamentals and principles, as well as experience.
VAT Responsibilities
Assist in preparing and filing timely and accurate VAT returns for the organisation.
Conduct VAT research as required by the VAT Specialist.
Assist in conducting regular VAT reconciliations and promptly resolving discrepancies.
Assist in proactively resolving SARS queries.
Liaise with external auditors to efficiently resolve VAT queries.
Conduct research for internal training material.
Financial Management and Control
Track progress against budgets within established finance systems, and report variances to more senior colleagues.
Data Collection and Analysis
Produce accurate reports for others by collecting data from a variety of standard sources and inputting it into standard formats.
Data Management
Help others get the most out of data management systems by providing support and advice.
Insights and Reporting
Extract and combine data to generate standard reports.
Document Preparation
Prepare moderately complex documents using a variety of applications for technology devices, such as standard office software. Also responsible for gathering and summarizing data for reports.
Information and Business Advice
Resolve complex queries from internal or external customers or suppliers by providing information on policies and/or procedures, referring the most complex issues to others.
Financial Policies, Guidelines and Protocols
Assist with the development and delivery of financial policies, guidelines, and protocols to ensure the company complies with regulations and good financial practice.
Operational Compliance
Develop knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct to ensure own work adheres to those standards. Obtain authorization from a supervisor or manager for any exceptions from mandatory procedure.
Personal Capability Building
Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching. Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
